Imjustgonnabehonest, I made a daily commitment to post travel news this year that I read in the morning. However, I'm crunching to put on the best show for you at, DestiCon, and that requires my focus for the next week. As my grandmother said, "you can't ride two horses with one ass". Though we try, lord almighty, we try. And, we're expected to be mothers and sisters and friends and wives and boss bitches and all that. This is something we are addressing in the professional development sessions at DestiCon, along with the best industry education. For us to stay in "peak performance", we have to make choices. Though, sometimes the choices we make create guilt. But, grace, baby. Above all, please give yourself grace this year. Not just women, all of us. Please prioritize and choose the things that bring you joy, that bring your visitors joy, because the world needs you to show up at your best.

So, until I'm back to the dailies, here's a little homework to give yourself grace. ❤️

*Due to my time crunch this am, "Helen" helped me with the advice below (Helen is what I call my ChatGPT, because I imagine her to be sassy and wise and draped in fabulous kaftans, like Mrs. Roper).

But, shhh🤐, if anyone asks, I'm doing it all and not even breaking a sweat.

See you next week at DestiCon!

  1. Understanding Grace: At its core, giving ourselves grace means offering understanding and forgiveness to our own shortcomings and imperfections. It's about acknowledging that we're only human and that making mistakes is an inherent part of the human experience. Instead of dwelling on our flaws, we can choose to approach ourselves with the same kindness and empathy we extend to others.

  2. The Myth of Perfection: Society often places a heavy emphasis on perfection, whether it's in our careers, relationships, or personal achievements. However, striving for perfection is an unrealistic and exhausting endeavor. Embracing grace involves letting go of the need to be flawless and accepting that our journey is a continuous process of growth and learning.

  3. The Power of Self-Compassion: Research in psychology consistently highlights the positive impact of self-compassion on mental health. When we treat ourselves with the same kindness and understanding that we offer to friends facing challenges, we create a nurturing internal environment. This self-compassionate mindset can enhance our resilience, reduce stress, and improve our overall emotional well-being.

  4. Learning from Mistakes: Mistakes are an inevitable part of life, and rather than viewing them as failures, we can see them as opportunities for growth. When we give ourselves grace in the face of setbacks, we open the door to valuable lessons and self-discovery. Each stumble becomes a stepping stone towards a more resilient and compassionate version of ourselves.

  5. Practicing Mindfulness: Mindfulness, the practice of being present and fully engaged in the current moment, is a powerful tool for cultivating self-compassion. By slowing down and observing our thoughts without judgment, we create space for understanding and acceptance. Mindfulness allows us to step back from self-critical patterns and embrace a more compassionate perspective.

  6. Celebrating Small Wins: Often, we focus on the grand achievements and milestones, neglecting the smaller victories along the way. Giving ourselves grace involves acknowledging and celebrating the daily accomplishments, no matter how minor. Each step forward, no matter how small, contributes to our overall progress.

Conclusion:

In a world that often emphasizes achievement over well-being, giving ourselves grace becomes a revolutionary act of self-love. As we navigate the complexities of life, let's remember that embracing our imperfections, learning from our mistakes, and treating ourselves with compassion are crucial steps toward a more fulfilling and balanced existence. So, go ahead – grant yourself the grace you deserve and watch as it transforms your journey into one of self-discovery and profound acceptance.
