As a trend-based consultant, I'm actually pretty much a skeptic and laggard compared to my counterparts.  Over 20+ years,I've seen so many failed peer-to-peer upstarts that I hardly adopt until it's screaming in other industries.  So, admittedly, I only downloaded Periscope last week after being very skeptical of another video platform.

I know, for a fact, you have old as hell video, a room full of b-roll or a ton of video ideas you just can't seem to get done.  See, produced commercial pieces have made you lazy, given you the excuse that if you can't do it right - don't do it.  And, even though every. single. study. on traveler behavior points to VIDEO as the top sway in the inspiration phase of travel planning, you're still greedily holding on to what your visitor is begging for... try before they buy!  Let me play, let me experience, let me plan.

Now, back to Periscope.  It's a Twitter baby and it's primary objective is LIVE VIDEO.  Turn it on, point the thing and talk.  Watch users make comments, interact and when you are not live, users can play back the video.  Now, Meerkat has some traction - but not the attention that Periscope does - thank to some recent celeb backing.

Today, Visit Valley Forge broadcasted a walk-through in National Historic Park Visitor Center with a follow-up cast of their Press Conference announcing a Family Day, Sept 25, in Valley Forge.  Was it perfect?  Nope.  Was there more they could have done?  Yep.  Did it freakin rock?  Hell yeah!!!  It's content, it's live, it's real and it's endearing.  Better still, it's embracing all that comes with being an early adopter.  While Visit Scotland, Florida and a host of others have profiles with thousands of followers - no content yet.  Come on ya'll.  Party has started, the chips are over there -- who's bringing the beer?
