I’m Ignoring the News and Worshipping Chonky Bears Instead

The world’s a mess. But somewhere in Alaska, bears are getting respectfully enormous, and the internet is here for it.

Welcome to Fat Bear Week, the only bracket-based tournament where girth is glory and winter prep is a spectator sport.

Here’s the vibe:

  • Katmai National Park posts side-by-side glow-ups of local bears

  • They’ve been feasting on salmon like it's a Vegas buffet

  • We vote for our favorites

  • One majestic unit is crowned champion of the chunk

No controversy. No drama. Just pure, bear-shaped joy.

And it SLAPS as a tourism strategy.

Just wild animals doing what they do best, while the world collectively screams “LOOK AT HIMMMMM” at their screens.

Honestly? Every Destination should be this lucky. A natural asset, a little camera, and the confidence to say:

“Let’s make this a whole damn thing.”

So yes, I’m hiding from the headlines. But I’m doing it in the most wholesome, hilarious way possible: By worshipping the bears.

Not booking. Not doomscrolling. Just voting for chonk.

Fat Bear Week: It’s educational. It’s adorable. It’s the exact kind of unhinged nature content we deserve.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go vote for 747. Because that boy is massive. 🐾🔥
