Barbee v. Tourism
Dear LinkedIn, I regret to inform you that I am taking the day off. Not a fake “still-checking-emails” day off.
Dear LinkedIn,
I regret to inform you that I am taking the day off. Not a fake “still-checking-emails” day off. A real day off—the kind where the only decision I plan on making is whether I should nap before or after lunch.
As a devoted worker bee, I feel it is my duty to remind you that nothing urgent will happen today.
Here’s a quick checklist for how you, too, can embrace this revolutionary concept called “rest.”
Close the laptop. The world will still spin if you don’t reply to that email about “circling back.”
Take an irresponsibly long lunch. Bonus points if there’s wine involved.
Stare dramatically into the distance. Channel your inner brooding poet. Maybe even sigh deeply for effect.
Ignore LinkedIn. Let the motivational posts about “grinding” pass you by like a tumbleweed.
Remember that inspiration comes from living, not just working. The best tourism marketing happens when we actually experience life, not just write strategy decks about it.
Back tomorrow with the good stuff. Today? Unavailable, unreachable, and unbothered.
Sincerely, My ‘Off’ Self
